Summer lovin' with Nadine
It’s summer, and the beaches are definitely a must destination. But forNadine Samonte, the sea and sand are what romantic moments are made of. Find out why in this iGMA exclusive interview. This is Nadine Samonte’s ideal date. “Sa beach, tapos nandoon lang kami sa sand, tapos may candlelit dinner date (at) kaming dalawa lang. (Saka) tahimik, na (ang) maririnig mo lang ‘yung dagat.”
With a dreamy look in her eyes and a knowing smile, the young star shares that the current beau, non-showbiz guy Emerson Chua, has done this special thing for her. “Nagpunta kami sa beach. Niyaya niya ako sa isang restaurant (pero) hindi ko alam na nagpa-set-up pala siya ng table under the moonlight.”
Interestingly, the Nadine-Emerson love story also began in a beach resort, where the two first met.
“Nagpakilala siya sa ’kin. May business kasi siya tapos tinanong niya sa ’kin kung gusto (ko) ng discount or something. Sabi ko, ‘sige’. Tapos simula noon, nagte-text na siya, getting-to-know-each-other stage na” she narrates.
Like a princess
Nadine admits she did not find it hard to love Emerson because he has always treated her like a princess. “Ibang klase kasi siyang lalaki” she says. “Sobrang understanding, down-to-earth, saka alam kong love niya ako kasi pinapakita niya kahit matagal na kami.”
And how exactly does Emerson show his love?
“Inaalagaan niya ako. Kunwari galing akong taping (at) kailangan kong maligo. ‘Pagpunta ko sa kanila, meron na siyang hot water, bath wash at shampoo, na ibibigay na lang nya sa ’kin” she proudly shares.
Not involved in showbiz as Emerson may be, Nadine asserts that her boyfriend understands the nature of her work. She also claims that he is not the jealous type. But is he still not watchful when it comes to kissing scenes?
“No,” she confidently answers. “Kapag may kissing scenes kasi pinag-uusapan namin. Tapos minsan naman kapag may mga kissing scenes, ako mismo ‘yung… nagsa-sugggest na… mga hugs na lang,” she explains.
Nadine also finds it better to be in a relationship with someone who is not with the showbiz industry. “Mas tahimik at hindi magulo,” she notes. “I’m lucky na nakuha ko ‘yung talagang… minamahal at inaalagaan ako.”
Fast forward
Looking into her future, Nadine sees herself as a happily married woman with kids, a house of her own and a stable business she can be proud of.
“Gusto ko ‘pag nag-25 (years old) na ako, may asawa na ako” she shares. “(May) two or three kids… Gusto ko may boy and girl. Gusto ko ‘yung girl gagawin kong Barbie doll,” she eagerly explains, looking very excited for her tomorrow.
And does she see herself spending the rest of her life with Emerson? “Sana,” she replies, giggling.
Staying in the showbiz industry even after she gets married, however, is still a matter of consideration. “Let’s see,” she says. “Ayoko pa munang magsalita. Ang hirap (kasi) magsabi. Halimbawa ngayon, sabihin ko na pag ganitong (edad) titigil na ako, eh baka mamaya ngayon pa lang itigil na ako, so hindi ko pa rin actually alam” she reasons out.
In the meantime, Nadine is devoting her time and effort to constantly improve herself to reach her dreams and share with the audience the talents she has been blessed with.
