“Yeah, like I’ve said, I’ve always been open to that naman. No qualms about sexy roles. As long as the character and the storylines call for it, hindi siya problema. At saka, siyempre, kung meron man na against it na gawin ko 'yun, magsasalita sila at pag-uusapan 'yun.”

Nadine Samonte expresses her disappointment over her "one-of-those" role in Darna
Hindi naitago ni Nadine Samonte ang pagkadismaya niya sa latest assignment na ibinigay sa kanya ng GMA-7. Isang kontrabida role ito bilang Babaeng Impakta, isa sa mga makakalaban ni Marian Rivera, sa bagong telefantasya ng Kapuso Network na Darna.
"Kung iisipin, okey na rin lang, kasi may trabaho ako," sabi ni Nadine in a phone interview. "Pero to be honest about it, hindi ito ang trabahong gusto ko. Kasi kung iisipin, nakapagbida na ako ng ilang ulit, e. I don't mind playing kontrabida roles, pero sa nangyayari, nagiging one of those lang ako.
"Bakit ganoon? Samantalang may mga bago diyan, ngayon lang sumulpot, biglang bida agad! Hindi sa nai-insecure ako, pero you can't help but ask, di ba? Ano ba ang nagawa kong mali para lumabas na napapag-iwanan ako?" hinaing ng StarStruck alumna.
Ito ang dahilan kung bakit pagkatapos ng cast presentation sa press launch ng Darna na ginanap noong Lunes ng gabi, August 3, sa Studio 5 ng GMA Network Center, nagmadaling umalis si Nadine at hindi na nakipag-usap sa entertainment press.
Paliwanag niya, "Ayoko naman kasing mag-nega nang husto, lalo kung napakaraming press ang magtatanong sa akin. Kilala ako ng mga kaibigan kong reporters. Kapag nagsalita ako, dere-deretso rin kasi. Ayoko lang kasing magpaka-hypocrite."
Nabanggit namin kay Nadine na sa nakaraang SRO Presents Cinemaserye Presents Suspetsa ay bida rin naman ang role na naibigay sa kanya.
"But, it wasn't a regular thing," sambit ni Nadine. "Kasi, parang guesting lang yun. Nakapagbida na nga ako sa afternoon soaps, pero bakit nga hindi nagtuloy-tuloy? Sa halip na umusad, parang umaatras akong pabalik.
"Hindi mo naman ako masisisi, kasi iniisip ko, 21 years old na ako. Matagal-tagal din akong naghintay. Tatanda na lang ba akong ganito? Iniisip ko na rin kung ano ang mangyayari sa future ko. Maraming bagong pumapasok, mas bata, saan pa ako lalagay?"
Gumagawa naman daw ng paraan para gandahan ang exposure niya sa Darna. Hindi naman daw siya all-out kontrabida rito.
"As Babaeng Impakta, may kakambal akong masama rito, si Impy," banggit ni Nadine. "Mapapansin ninyo, sa second or third week ng series, nakatutok din sa akin ang istorya. Kasi, alam naman nila ang reklamo ko. Naghahanap na lang silang remedyo para hindi ako masyadong malungkot."

More than 100 Kapuso stars fell down from the sky to celebrate GMA-7's 59th glorious anniversary. The grand event, titled One Glamorous Night: Greater and Grateful at 59, was held last night, June 19, at the Araneta Coliseum.
It was an evening of high style and glamour where the Kapuso stars paraded in a flamboyant fashion show.
The special also delved into the 10 elements of TV (color, moves, style, image, heart, sound, numbers, power, soul, and reach).
COLOR. Kyla and Jay-R opened the show with a colorful production number featuring the massive pool of more than 100 Kapuso talents.

It was understandable that most of the talents of Tito Dougs skipped the GMA anniversary presentation since it was the last night of the talent manager's wake at the Heritage Memorial Chapels; although some of his other talents, like Wendell Ramos and Ryan Yllana, still showed up at the Big Dome.
Richard Gutierrez, one of the biggest stars of the Kapuso network, was also spotted at Tito Doug's wake, along with parents Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama and sister Ruffa. Unknown to many, Richard was co-managed by the late talent manager, who was cremated today.
Paolo Bediones is reportedly in Australia for the taping of Survivor Philippines Season 2, while Yasmien Kurdi and Nadine Samonte are in Dubai for a show.
SOME SIDELIGHTS. While waiting for his cue for the next segment, Ogie Alcasid provided probably one of the most entertaining moments of the program. Standing on the side of the stage for more than 10 minutes, Ogie entertained the audience and himself by singing a line or two of different songs while cracking jokes left and right. Too bad that this part won't be aired on TV.
Based on the applause and cheers last night, there is no doubt that Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are still the most popular Kapuso stars. Coming in second is the pair of Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal, who will soon be seen in the primetime series All My Life.
Meanwhile, Geoff Eigenmann and Carla Abellana looked so good together. But their appearance on stage did not elicit the same response as Dingdong and Marian or even Aljur and Kris, probably because the viewers have yet to see their chemistry on screen. But if everything works on their side, then their tandem will also become one of the most popular in no time.
Dingdong and Marian never appeared on stage together as they now have different projects; Darna for Marian and Stairway To Heaven for Dingdong. But during the finale, one of the country's most popular loveteams came out together.

Noticeably absent at last night's grandiose event Robin Padilla, Richard Gutierrez, Heart Evangelista, Jolina Magdangal, Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto and girlfriend Pia Guanio, Carmina Villarroel, Jennylyn Mercado, Yasmien Kurdi, Nadine Samonte, Katrina Halili, Alfred Vargas, Paolo Bediones, Allan K, Jaya, Eugene Domingo, Jan Nieto, and most of the stars of the late Douglas Quijano, like Richard Gomez and wife Lucy Torres, Joey Marquez, brothers Anjo and Jomari Yllana, and sisters Janice and Gelli de Belen.
It was understandable that most of the talents of Tito Dougs skipped the GMA anniversary presentation since it was the last night of the talent manager's wake at the Heritage Memorial Chapels; although some of his other talents, like Wendell Ramos and Ryan Yllana, still showed up at the Big Dome.
Richard Gutierrez, one of the biggest stars of the Kapuso network, was also spotted at Tito Doug's wake, along with parents Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama and sister Ruffa. Unknown to many, Richard was co-managed by the late talent manager, who was cremated today.
Paolo Bediones is reportedly in Australia for the taping of Survivor Philippines Season 2, while Yasmien Kurdi and Nadine Samonte are in Dubai for a show.
SOME SIDELIGHTS. While waiting for his cue for the next segment, Ogie Alcasid provided probably one of the most entertaining moments of the program. Standing on the side of the stage for more than 10 minutes, Ogie entertained the audience and himself by singing a line or two of different songs while cracking jokes left and right. Too bad that this part won't be aired on TV.
Based on the applause and cheers last night, there is no doubt that Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are still the most popular Kapuso stars. Coming in second is the pair of Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal, who will soon be seen in the primetime series All My Life.
Meanwhile, Geoff Eigenmann and Carla Abellana looked so good together. But their appearance on stage did not elicit the same response as Dingdong and Marian or even Aljur and Kris, probably because the viewers have yet to see their chemistry on screen. But if everything works on their side, then their tandem will also become one of the most popular in no time.
Dingdong and Marian never appeared on stage together as they now have different projects; Darna for Marian and Stairway To Heaven for Dingdong. But during the finale, one of the country's most popular loveteams came out together.

Marian Rivera and Carla Abellana nagkita sa GMA-7 anniversary
Sa unang pagkakataon ay nagkasama sa isang malaking event ang dalawang GMA-7 stars na naging Pinay Thalia—sina Marian Rivera at Carla Abellana.
Si Marian ang kauna-unahang Pinay Thalia nang i-launch siya bilang "next big star" ng GMA-7 sa phenomenal hit series na Marimar. Ngayon ay si Carla naman ang nabigyan ng pagkakataon ng Kapuso network na maging Thalia sa bagong local TV adaptation ng hit Mexicanovela na Rosalinda.
Nagkasama sina Marian at Carla sa 59th anniversary special ng GMA-7 sa Araneta Coliseum na One Glamorous Night: Greater and Grateful at 59 kagabi, June 19, kung saan nakasama rin nila ang halos lahat ng stars ng GMA-7.
Sa backstage ng The Big Dome ay sabay na nakapanayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sina Marian at Carla na kagabi lang nagkasama. Pinagtabi namin ang dalawang PinayThalia at masaya sila na nagkasama sa malaking event na iyon ng GMA-7.
Nanggaling na rin kay Marian na nagkakilala na una silang nag-meet ni Carla nang may mag-introduce sa kanilang dalawa sa isang event din ng GMA-7.
Tinanong ng PEP si Marian na kung ano ang puwede niyang masabi kay Carla dahil ito na ang bagong Pinay Thalia ngayon.
"Siyempre, natutuwa naman ako dahil nadagdagan na naman ang mga stars ng Kapuso network, at welcome na welcome si Carla sa ating lahat. Na-meet ko na si Carla before pa at okey naman siya. At good luck sa project niya na Rosalinda, kasi alam ko na maganda ang kalalabasan no'n tulad ng nangyari sa Marimar," pahayag ni Marian.
Sa parte naman ni Carla, tila na-starstruck siya nang una niyang makilala si Marian. Ngayon ay nagkakasama pa sila sa malalaking event at shows ng GMA-7.
"It's really an honor to meet Marian in person and hopefully to work with her soon," nakangiting sabi ni Carla. "Siya pa rin naman ang kinikilalang original Pinay Thalia and I am happy to follow in her footsteps. Mabait siya at napakaganda niya."
LOOKALIKES. Marami ang nagsasabi na magkahawig silang dalawa. Agree ba sina Marian at Carla sa obserbasyon na ito?
"Oo naman!" sabay tawa ni Marian. "Kita n'yo naman, para lang kaming nananalamin sa isa't isa! Tsaka kanya-kanya namang opinyon 'yan, e. If they think na magkahawig kami, okey lang. It means na pareho kaming maganda, di ba?"
Sumang-ayon naman si Carla at sinabing, "Marami nga ang nagsasabi, and I feel flattered kasi nga Marian Rivera na 'yan. Masabi lang na may hawig kami, malaking bagay na for someone like me na nagsisimula pa lang sa showbiz. Masaya kong tatanggapin 'yong mga sinasabi nila."
May advice bang maibibigay si Marian kay Carla tungkol sa pagganap bilang Pinay Thalia since marami na siyang experience pagdating sa acting?
"Siguro pinaka-advice ko lang ay mag-enjoy si Carla sa ginagawa niya. At the same time, yung pagiging serious din niya sa pinasok niyang trabaho ay nandoon. Ako kasi noong ibinigay sa akin ang Marimar, pinanood at pinag-aralan ko talaga ang istorya pati na ang mga kilos ni Thalia. Tapos, nagbigay ako ng sarili kong interpretation. From there, magkakaroon ka na ng sarili mong character na hindi nalalayo sa original. At isa pa, mahalin niya ang trabaho niya para mahalin ka rin nito pabalik," saad ni Marian.
Natuwa naman si Carla sa magandang advice na ibinigay ni Marian sa kanya at nangako ito na susundin ang mga sinabi nito.
"Galing na ang mga 'yan kay Marian and dahil sa baguhan ako, kailangan kong makinig sa mga mas nakakaalam sa akin. Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nasabi niya at tatandaan ko lahat ng mga in-advice sa akin ni Marian," ani Carla.
May nabanggit din si Marian na baka may gawin silang pelikula ni Carla, pero matagal pa naman daw 'yon. Abangan na lang daw ito ng kanilang mga tagahanga.

Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo were married by Father Tito Caluag in an out-of-town church wedding at 7:00 this morning, April 28. Where it took place is still unverified as of this deadline. Besides close relatives from the family of both sides, Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid, Susy and Paolo Abrera were members of the entourage. KC Concepcion, Joyce Bernal, and Rory Quintos were also present. The wedding fnished at 8AM and the newlywed's entourage, family members and other guests proceeded to an undisclosed resort for the reception.
