Jen branching out
Thursday, March 01, 2007
StarStruck Survivor and Super Twins star Jennylyn Mercado has a schedule that would make your head spin. Aside from being an actress and going to constant tapings, Jen is an entrepreneur as well, which means that her down time is sometimes spent taking care of her business. And to top it all off, she’s gone back into the recording studio to work on her next album.
The busy star found some breathing space and talked to us about her newest projects.
“I’m doing my third album this year with GMA records pa rin at sana sabi nila mag-o-open yung third branch ng ‘Jen’s,’ tapos more projects sana” she begins.
Jen’s first album was Living The Dream (2004), became a certified Gold record holder, while her second album was Letting Go (2005). “’Yung first kasi medyo teeny bopper, tapos ‘yung second medyo serious na. ‘Yung third parang ganoon din pero gusto nila na mag-hit ako ng mga high notes, ‘yung talagang matataas na kanta."
Jen was able to compose original songs for the second album, so she’s planning to do the same for the third, which will hopefully be released soon.
As for her clothing line with “Jen’s,” the young actress says that she personally designs the clothes, and that they come out in all sizes, from an extra small to a triple XL.
So why did Jennylyn think of setting up her own clothing line?
“Unang-una, endorser ako ng ‘Jen’s,’ tapos they gave me this idea na ‘Bakit hindi ka magtayo ng branch inside Star Mall?’ ‘Oo nga no? Why not?' Tapos ako na nag-design, ako na lahat. Nandoon siya sa loob ng Finds Department store, tapos mayroon akong parang store doon sa loob. Tapos minsan, nagbebenta din ako doon,” she says.
‘Jen’s’ can be located in Star Mall Edsa, Las PiƱas and at Metropolis in Alabang.
It wasn’t long ago when we were just watching a teeny bopper try her luck in showbiz, but now, that little girl has blossomed into a respected actress, new entrepreneur and talented singer.
Evidently, Jen has grown up, branched out and continues to reach for the sky.
