FRAME-UP?
Sunday, May 25, 2008

And the height, nakipagbati pa raw kinabukasan ’yung lalaking nag-provoke, nambastos at sumagot ng pabalang-balang sa aktres, ha! Kapal!

Under the sea
The Dyesebels of the past have always concentrated on the love story between Fredo and Dyesebel. There have been many remakes of this love story and most scenes have been confined to the beach and in the mortal’s world. But this time around, GMA wants us to have an idea of what Dyesebel’s world is really like.
May culture sila, kung paano sila magtinda, kung paano mag-exchange ng money, 'yung traditions nila," say the writers of Dyesebel, Kit Villanueva-Langit, Arlene Navarro-Punio and Dodie Cruz.
They have also disclosed that they made the characters of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera as different as possible from their previous characters in Marimar.
“Actually challenge talaga siya sa lahat. Hindi lang sa creative, sa production, even sa kanilang dalawa," admits the writers of the show.
Indeed they wanted to give us something new to watch. Aside from the usual mermaid story that we have been introduced to by one of the most successful graphic novelist in the Philippines, Mars Ravelo, we are now given a vision of what Dyesebel’s world is like under the sea.
The story of Dyesebel
Interpreting a classic like Dyesebel is a big challenge to both the actors and creative team of the network. Aside from the fact that this particular mermaid story is close to the hearts of the Filipinos, many remakes of this story have already been presented to the Filipino viewers.
“Maraming nadagdag doon sa dating Dyesebel na mermaid story, pero nandoon pa rin naman 'yung dynamics ni Fredo at Dyesebel," assured one of the writers.
Aside from the two main characters, the introduction of the merworld naturally brings in new characters in the story. Berbola, Bukanding, Erebus, Usaro are few of the underwater creatures added in Dyesebel’s world.
Together they give us a new aspect in Dyesebel’s story and give more color and flavor to the tale that we all have come to love.
