Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Marian Rivera is on her best behavior
Saturday, August 27, 2011
Marian Rivera wants to give glamorous roles a rest. “Gusto kong gumanap na basurera, para makita ng mga tao na puwede rin ako sa ganoong klaseng character,” she shares after revealing to us that she’ll be topbilling a sitcom when “Amaya” wraps up.
The lovely Kapuso star’s yearning for a thespic stretch is just one of the things she’s working on – but, even more immediate on Marian’s to-do list is, in her own words, “to adjust my attitude.” In fact, not a few birdies have told us that the feisty actress has indeed been working extra hard to be “nicer” these days.
We didn’t know what to expect when we flew to Davao last weekend to observe Marian and her GMA 7 co-stars like Manny Pacquiao, Sid Lucero, Rhian Ramos, Glaiza de Castro, Mikael Daez, and the teeners and tweeners of “Tween Academy” as they added stellar zing to the Kadayawan festival’s merrymaking.
Two-pronged question
When we finally met Marian, she was glowing and buzzing with positive vibe as she warmly greeted us and signified her intention to go karaoke-singing in the evening. She warily shrugged her shoulders when somebody naughtily egged her on with a two-pronged question: “How’s your, uh, Heart?”
“I’m very transparent and vocal about my thoughts and feelings – and, sometimes, that’s what gets me in trouble,” she later admits. You learn from experience, and you go with the flow.” Lesson well learned, indeed.
Still, her winking tactlessness comes through from time to time, like when we asked her if she drew her newfound maturity and outlook from boyfriend, Dingdong Dantes. She explains, “I don’t think we’d last this long kung wala kaming naibibigay na positive sa isa’t isa. Now, he’s bubbly (laughs)!”
Iconic characters
Which among the iconic characters she’s played so far does she relate to the most – Darna, Dyesebel, Amaya or Marimar? She readily replies, “Nakaka-relate ako kay Marimar kasi inosente s’ya at walang alam sa mga bagay-bagay, like when I first joined show biz. The show introduced me to the world – at dun ko rin nakilala si Dong, although I wasn’t in love with him then. That came later, when we were doing ‘Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang’ (swoons)!”
What’s one thing that the public doesn’t know about her? She answers, “They know everything! But, they should also know that I’m trying my best. I’m still the same Marian, pero hindi na ako mapagpatol.”

Dingdong at Piolo, magsasama sa pelikula
Sunday, August 21, 2011
Co-prod niya ito with Reality Entertainment.

Milyun-

Did Heart Evangelista’s mom made Marian Rivera cry at the airport?
Thursday, June 16, 2011
A rumored feud between Temptation Island stars Heart Evangelista and Marian Rivera reportedly came to a head at the airport in Manila on June 13, PEP.ph reports. The two stars and the rest of the cast had just come back from taping scenes in Ilocos Norte when the incident allegedly happened. PEP.ph cites a report by Mario Bautista from People’s Journal saying that as Marian approached Heart to say goodbye, Mrs. Ongpauco, Heart’s mom, suddenly yelled, “Stay away from my daughter!”
Mrs. Ongpauco also said more hurtful words to Marian, which made her cry. Meanwhile, other PEP sources say Mrs. Ongpauco supposedly had bodyguards on the scene acting as “protection” for Heart.
Two days before the alleged incident, Heart had dismissed the rumors about her feud with Marian

Maria Aragon's Filipino Parents is Proud of Her!
Monday, February 28, 2011

“Pinagmamalaki namin siya… [proud kami sa kanya] 100 percent,” stimulated Maria’s mother, an Ormoc, Leyte native, in a Skype interview with GMA-7’s “24 Oras,” Feb. 28.
It’s been just a couple of weeks since Maria Aragon posted on YouTube her piano-decked rendition of Lady Gaga’s new song “Born This Way” that moved the singer-songwriter herself, prompting her to tweet about Maria’s cover.
As one of YouTube’s top properties, Maria Aragon by now had interviews one after another on radio, and appeared on some big-shot television shows such as "Ellen" (which prompted another tweet from Lady Gaga, branding her “such a doll” and a standing ovation from the audience) and “Good Morning America” (where its anchor George Stephanopoulos handed her a gift certificate for six months of piano lessons).
Another forthcoming milestone for Maria’s booming career is her much-awaited duet with Lady Gaga in her Toronto, Canada show in March. The invitation came personally from Gaga during their surprise phone chat during one of Maria’s radio interviews in Winnipeg.
As of this writing, her "Born This Way" cover has climbed to over 16 million hits on YouTube.
Regardless of Maria Aragon spanking achievements, Maria’s parents mentioned that their daughter, a Grade 5 student at the Isaac Brock School in Winnipeg, often misses school.
“Nung nasa LA nga kami, nandun kami sa hotel, umiiyak siya, sabi niya ‘I miss my school already’,” related Maria’s father, who originates from Mandaluyong City.
While Maria Aragon's parents are supportive of their daughter’s music ambitions, they want her to persist her studies.
“Di siya titigil sa pag-aaral, tuluy-tuloy ‘yan…” said her dad.
Even though Maria Aragon hasn't been to the Philippines, Maria gets to watch local shows on the TV. Maria Aragon also is aware of several Filipino celebs such as Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez. Maria Aragon also mentioned broadcast newscasters Jessica Soho, Mel Tiangco, and Mike Enriquez.
Maria extended her thankfulness to her kababayans in straight Filipino.
“Sa mga kababayan ko sa Pilipinas, binabati ko kayo ng magandang gabi at saka mahal ko kayong lahat,” she said.

Marian Rivera supports Dingdong Dantes' EDSA Baby Ako Project
Friday, February 25, 2011
Dingdong Dantes himself organized EDSA Baby Ako!: A Celebration of Promise and Hope, which happened at SM City Skydome last Feb. 23, Wednesday.
This is Dingdong's contribution for the 25th anniversary of People Power Revolution this Friday, Feb. 25. Inevitably, even before he's identified supporter of President Noynoy Aquino and becamespokesperson for youth in the course of the campaign period til now.
Bigtime performers and actors attended the said event including Dingdong's girlfriend Marian Rivera.
Young actress uttered that she really blocked her schedule just to support Dindong's project.
Dingdong and Marian spent their Valentine's Day in Hong Kong and there are rumors that their engagement was done there but Marian dismissed it and said that they are enjoying every single moment of their togetherness and what's important is that they support each other.
Thursday, September 30, 2010
Alang-alang lang sa GMA7 kaya ako nagpunta that day.

The Current and Upcoming GMA-7 soaps revealed by Ms. Wilma Galvante
Sunday, July 12, 2009
DARNA. Ano ang target pilot episode rating nila for Darna?
For me, she's the prettiest Darna, mukha siyang manika," wika ni Ms. Wilma.
KOREANOVELAS.
We're looking for an actress that will fit the role of Jodi. Very fragile at kailangang sympathetic ang face dahil nagkasakit siya."
Patuloy ni Ms. Wilma, "Pasok din this year ang Full House, baka November, pang-last quarter programming.

"Oo, Show Me the Manny ang title," banggit ni Ms. Wilma. "This year din ito gagawin.

REACH. Respected broadcaster Mel Tiangco provided the intro for the last segment, the element of reach which marks GMA-7's growth and development as it connects to Filipinos across the globe through its international channels: GMA Pinoy TV and GMA Life TV.
Leading the finale is none other than Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez as she sang a medley of inspirational songs, while models wearing Filipiniana costumes designed by three Filipino designers walked on the ramp followed by all the Kapuso stars.
After this, Senator Bong Revilla provided the farewell message as all the GMA-7 executives, led by CEO and Chairman Atty. Felipe Gozon, joined the roster of Kapuso stars on the stage.
MISSING IN ACTION. Noticeably absent at last night's grandiose event Robin Padilla, Richard Gutierrez, Heart Evangelista, Jolina Magdangal, Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto and girlfriend Pia Guanio, Carmina Villarroel, Jennylyn Mercado, Yasmien Kurdi, Nadine Samonte, Katrina Halili, Alfred Vargas, Paolo Bediones, Allan K, Jaya, Eugene Domingo, Jan Nieto, and most of the stars of the late Douglas Quijano, like Richard Gomez and wife Lucy Torres, Joey Marquez, brothers Anjo and Jomari Yllana, and sisters Janice and Gelli de Belen.
It was understandable that most of the talents of Tito Dougs skipped the GMA anniversary presentation since it was the last night of the talent manager's wake at the Heritage Memorial Chapels; although some of his other talents, like Wendell Ramos and Ryan Yllana, still showed up at the Big Dome.
Richard Gutierrez, one of the biggest stars of the Kapuso network, was also spotted at Tito Doug's wake, along with parents Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama and sister Ruffa. Unknown to many, Richard was co-managed by the late talent manager, who was cremated today.
Paolo Bediones is reportedly in Australia for the taping of Survivor Philippines Season 2, while Yasmien Kurdi and Nadine Samonte are in Dubai for a show.
SOME SIDELIGHTS. While waiting for his cue for the next segment, Ogie Alcasid provided probably one of the most entertaining moments of the program. Standing on the side of the stage for more than 10 minutes, Ogie entertained the audience and himself by singing a line or two of different songs while cracking jokes left and right. Too bad that this part won't be aired on TV.
Based on the applause and cheers last night, there is no doubt that Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are still the most popular Kapuso stars. Coming in second is the pair of Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal, who will soon be seen in the primetime series All My Life.
Meanwhile, Geoff Eigenmann and Carla Abellana looked so good together. But their appearance on stage did not elicit the same response as Dingdong and Marian or even Aljur and Kris, probably because the viewers have yet to see their chemistry on screen. But if everything works on their side, then their tandem will also become one of the most popular in no time.
Dingdong and Marian never appeared on stage together as they now have different projects; Darna for Marian and Stairway To Heaven for Dingdong. But during the finale, one of the country's most popular loveteams came out together.
One Glamorous Night: Greater and Grateful at 59 will be aired on June 28 on SNBO.

"YES!" lists down the Top 20 Celebrity Endorsers
Tuesday, September 23, 2008
Vote for Best Female Endorser at CELEBRYTHING
Through the years, we've seen how celebrities were used as a product endorser and how it added up to the success of their showbiz career. In fact, some popular stars today—like Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Isabel Oli, Ryan Agoncillo, and Carmina Villarroel—were first seen in TV commercials before
joining the showbiz industry.
With all the advertisements we see on television, radio, newspapers, and even billboards, it just follows that a consumer will wonder, "How much do these celebrities earn from endorsements?"
In the October 2008 issue of YES! magazine, they interviewed executives from the advertising industry to describe how they choose a certain celeban authority who explained why consumers oftentimes believe in the statements of these stars in their commercials.
YES! also listed down 20 local celebrities who are always in demand and regarded as effective product endorsers.
"The list you see here is our own," clarifies YES! Editor-in Chief Jo-Ann Maglipon. "Our list is not writ in stone—this is, after all, a topic wrapped in some pretty serious secrecy—but it is one we stand by. With good reason: ours is an independent list using multiple sources, pursued fairly, and computed with disinterest."
Now, based on the estimated total income for 2008, PEP gives you five popular celebrities who made it in this year's "2008 YES! List of the Top 20 Endorsers."
Sharon Cuneta. There's no doubt that Mega Star Sharon Cuneta will be included in this list. It can be recalled that PEP also placed her on the third spot of our Top Celebrity Endorsers of 2007.
Third Domingo, creative director of Jimenez Basic advertising, tells YES!, "Sharon definitely is very effective. Do you know why? Because I think she really uses the product that she endorses. I think you can feel it, e. That's the best endorser, if he or she really uses the product the he or she endorses."
Aga Muhlach. This multi-awarded actor has been the main endorser of the number one famous fast food chain in the country, Jollibee, for a little less than two decades already.
In an essay written by Professor Rolando Tolentino titled "Si Aga Muhlach at ang Wholesome na Pakete," he described why Aga attracts advertisers.
Prof. Tolentino wrote, "[Aga is] the gentleman who keeps mum when it comes to controversies; the boy next door that a girl would like to bring home for dinner; the nice type who is well-scrubbed, sensitive, proper, almost shy. These qualities are exactly what advertisers are on the lookout for, particularly if their brand projects a ‘nice' image."
Kris Aquino. She has been dubbed as the queen of product endorsement for having 21 product endorsements attached to her name. In fact, she landed on the No. 1 spot of PEP's Top Celebrity Endorsers of 2007.
Maybe you're asking, "Why do advertisers love her?"
'Tsaka she herself is already news material.
Piolo Pascual. His "I love you, Piolo" ad with Sprite has become very popular that whenever ladies see him in person they will scream the shout exactly the same phrase.
Cris San Gabriel, casting director for Adformatix Marketing Communications attributes Piolo's successful product endorsement not only to his good looks but also to his charisma and sincerity.
San Gabriels adds, "The guys is a wonderful person. Mabait 'yong tao, totoong tao. When you look at a person, kailangan, when you look into his eyes, nando'n 'yong sincerity."
Marian Rivera. Commercial modeling is not a new thing for the Dyesebel actress since this is the bridge that connected her into showbiz.
Advertisers like Marian as an endorser because of her "masa" appeal. San Gabriel explains, "The effectivity of a celebrity endorser should be based on the impact in the sales of the product they endorse."
Aside from her "masa" image, Marian also thinks that her viewers trust her as an endorser.
These are just five of the celebrities who are included in the first half of "2008 YES! List of the Top 20 Endorsers." Your favorite young stars such as Richard Gutierrez, Dingdong Dantes, Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, and even boxing champ Manny Pacquiao also get a spot on this list.
Find out their ranks and why they are so in demand among advertisers when you grab a copy of YES! October 2008 issue, with Dawn Zulueta on the main cover, in magazine stands and bookstores.
