Kapuso stars and their Desire Tattoos
Wednesday, May 21, 2008
In the world of showbiz, appearance is everything; and celebrities are supposed to have flawless beautiful skin—or as much as possible anyway.
This summer, iGMA asks the stars what kind of tattoos they’d want to have if they can have one, and they have some pretty interesting answers!
From the unusual to the not-so-much
“I’ve always wanted a Philippine flag somewhere, probably on my back or something," Rhian Ramos reveals.
But, the pretty actress says, she doesn’t think it would be possible for her to have one because “I’m an actress, [and] if I have a scene where I have to bare my back or something, e ‘di kitang-kita na ‘yun. Sayang naman ‘yung concealer!"
Senator’s son Bryan Revilla can’t make up his mind as to what kind of tattoos he would want to have, but he knows where he wants them: “chest or shoulders."
As for young the perennial kontrabida Arci Muñoz, she wants to have a tattoo on her neck. But because she’s not actually allowed to have tattoos, Arci would just have to be content with imaginary ones. But if she were, hypothetically, to have one done, she reveals, “gusto ko barcode o kaya stitches, para unique."
Another celebrity thinking of getting barcode tattoos? Francine Prieto!
The tall celebrity says she wants it on her ankle; before joking, “tapos titignan kung magkano ako!"
Alyssa Alano, on the other hand, is going for a more religious approach: she wants “mukha ni Jesus Christ sa likod. Para lagi siyang, hindi lang sa puso at isip ko, pati sa katawan ko, nandoon siya."
From the clan Padilla, Ralph wants a different kind of tattoo. “Tribal na sun, sa back ng neck." The Joaquin Bordado mainstay even has a meaning attached to it! “Parang ‘let there be light.’"
From suns, let’s go to stars. Two StarStruck beauties want star tattoos. And while Iwa Moto already had hers done, Jade Lopez’s is still in her imagination. And where would she put it? “Sa may upper [backside]!" The young actress laughs, “kasi gusto ko maging star!"
Tribal to tattooed trivias
“If ever siguro, sa left arm," hunky Alfred Vargas says after a bit of thought where he would put a tattoo. Not afraid of the needle, Alfred says that he’d encircle his bicep with a tattoo. What kind? “Tribal."
Two other guys are also going for the tribal approach are Mark Herras and Kevin Santos .
“Sa bandang arms, ipapapuno ko," Kevin reveals. He adds that he wants tattoos much like The Rock’s, “kasi parang mas naastigan ako doon eh."
But he also reveals that he’d rather have it done in henna. The not-so-tough guy says that he doesn’t want a real tattoo: “parang ang pangit sa katawan eh."
Another henna-preferring celebrity is Karylle, who’s going for an anklet-type of tattoo. But for real, she says that she’d “rather not, because people will wrinkle in time, and it would look ugly. And you can not donate blood!"
Other celebrities who don’t want a real tattoo are Marvin Agustin, Tess Bomb, Chynna Ortaleza and Melissa Avelino . But they’re very much game with imaginary ones—or fake ones.
Marvin says that the only tattoo he’d ever consider having are the names of people who’ll be permanent in his life: “my kids!" An answer that Chynna mirrors, saying “I won’t have any problem tattooing their names sa katawan ko, ‘cos they came from me."
Meanwhile, Melissa wants a significant something written in Spanish, and Tess Bomb would have anything “pa-tweetums", “hindi naman kasi bagay sa akin mag-tattoo ng ahas. Haller!"
What about you? What kind of tattoo would you like to have?

Polite & courteous young stars
Friday, May 25, 2007
STARBYTES By Butch Francisco
The other day, I wrote about how most of today’s new breed of stars are lacking in manners and hardly show any respect for people ahead of them in this business. Fortunately, we still have a few young stars who are polite and courteous. Here is my personal list.
Alfred Vargas — His parents and the Jesuits did a good job on him. He best exemplifies what proper education does to a person.
Pauleen Luna — She can swap jokes with people older than her, but without being disrespectful.
Dennis Trillo — He is Mr. Manners. Anywhere he sees you, he always has his hand extended to say hello.
Richard and Raymond Gutierrez — Very charming like their Ate Ruffa. They have the gentlemanly ways of their father Eddie and the warmth of Mom Annabelle (when she’s not on the warpath).
Lovi — Totally well-bred. If only all young stars could be like her.
Camille Prats — I knew her as a kid when we were with ABS-CBN. She brought her nice ways over when she moved to GMA 7.
Sunshine Dizon — She is very solicitous. When I appeared on Bakekang last December, she being the mainstay saw to it that I was okay and that the show’s staff was taking care of me. I will never forget that display of kindness.
Alessandra de Rossi — She may be the feistiest among today’s young stars, but she can also be very sweet (a trait she must have gotten from older sister Assunta). With Alex, she can show her fangs when she’s angry, but not to the point of rudeness.
Paolo Contis — Even in person he is very funny, but never obnoxious.
Isabel Oli — She is my favorite young Cebuana because of her very nice ways.
Mark Herras — He never let stardom get to his head. His every greeting is warm and sincere.
Yasmien Kurdi — She is the sweetest among the young stars today.
Oyo Sotto — Very quiet, but very polite.
Danica Sotto — She speaks her mind, but without being rude. I also have to say that her husband, Marc Pingris, is a true gentleman.
Dion Ignacio — In spite of his humble beginnings, he knows the basic rules on politeness.
Tyrone Perez — Even at the start of the StarStruck Batch 1 search, he already proved to be very courteous.
Katrina Halili — Even if she’s hot now, she remains unaffected. She still goes around giving everyone a warm hello.
Mike Tan — He is the embodiment of politeness.
Ryza Cenon — One time after the shoot of a Christmas plug for GMA 7, we all repaired to a restaurant for dinner and after the meal, she got the cheque. Oh, she’s not only nice and polite, but generous, too. But I couldn’t let her pay the bill, of course. I quickly handed it over to our executive producer (ha-ha-ha!). There really was a budget for that.
CJ Muere — He was well-taught by his parents on how to be politeand courteous.
LJ Reyes — You can joke around with her, but she doesn’t cross the line and is constantly aware of how to respect people older than her.
Ryan Yllana and Aileen Luna — They make a nice pair: Sweet and courteous.
Arci Muñoz — Her manners are as nice as her big, brown eyes.
Chuck Allie — We are gym buddies at Gold’s and that is our bonding.
Prince Stefan — He is Mr. Personality.
Mariel Rodriguez — I’ve never met her in person, but I was touched when she tried to get my number to thank me for a nice article I wrote about her.
Toni Gonzaga — Even if she is dead tired due to overwork, she still finds time to say hello.
Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo — They bring out the best in each other. I haven’t met Ryan’s parents, but I’m sure they’re nice people based on how their boy turned out. Mommy Carol — I love her. She knows how to say thank you even for a small deed you’ve done for her.
Luis Manzano — He was very shy as a boy, but is surviving show business swimmingly well. One of Vilma Santos’ biggest accomplishments was to have raised him well.
You must have noticed that the list of GMA 7 talents is longer. No, I’m not saying that there are more polite young people in Channel 7. It’s just that I get to interact more with them. When I attended Deo Endrinal’s birthday party last year at the Teatrino, I was so touched by the fact a lot of young ABS-CBN stars were coming up to me to introduce themselves or just say hi. Although I felt old, it was good to know that we still have polite and courteous young people in both major stations.

Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso, Yasmien's first solo show
Thursday, May 03, 2007

Personally, very happy kami for this new Sine Novela ng GMA na remake of the Viva Films movie nina Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion dahil it will star Yasmien Kurdi in the Mega role.
This is Yasmien's first solo show na siya ang magdadala since their Love to Love pa noon ni Rainier Castillo and this is long overdue.
Napatunayan na rin naman ni Yasmien na kung acting lang din ang paguusapan, she is the best of her batch sa Starstruck and this was
last seen sa Bakekang nila ni Sunshine Dizon.
Pati Ba Pintig Ng Puso will have JC de Vera playing the Gabby role at may isa pa kaming good news dahil another StarStruck III avenger
was given her chance to shine, si Arci Muñoz.
She plays the Jobelle Salvador character in the movie na dapat ay kay Stef Prescott.
